The subsoiler can go up to 11″ deep.
The purpose of the subsoiler is to loosen the soil beneath the surface without turning over the soil or mixing soil layers. Depending on the type and condition of the soil, the 16″ shank allows the subsoiler to reach up to 11″ deep.
Using a subsoiler is a good way to deeply loosen the soil. This improves draining and increases the soil’s moisture-holding capacity. It also aerates the soil and helps plant roots to penetrate to greater depth. When used with the proper wheel weights to increase traction, the subsoiler can loosen soil more deeply than the rear-tine tiller.
Requirements

The subsoiler mounts to the BCS two-wheel tractor using the Tool Carrier Kit
To connect the subsoiler to your BCS walk-behind tractor, you will need the Tool Carrier Kit. Wheel weights are also needed in order to give your tractor better traction.
We recommend using 12″ wheels because those are able to accommodate 150-pound wheel weights.
The subsoiler is recommended for use with BCS tractors 732 and higher.
When using it with the 732 and 739, you will also need Wheel Extensions to enable the use of 12″ wheels.
